Hall Of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry sported this hat during the 1983 season while with the Kansas City Royals. The Royals were the last stop for Perry after toeing the rubber for 7 other teams during his 22 year career. Perry amassed 314 wins and struck out 3,534 batters during his career. Perry appeared in 14 games as a starter while he was wearing this hat with the Royals. Perry is most remembered during his brief stint with the Royals for his roll in the famous Pine-Tar Incident in which he stole the bat that Brett used that day and hid it from the umpire. Seeing as Perry appeared in a limited number of games in 1983 this could well be the hat that he was wearing on that highly eventful day!!! The hat shows moderate wear and the brim bears both Perry's playing number and his autograph in black ink. Fantastic relic from this Hall Of Fame pitcher!!! Loa from expert Dave Miedema accompanies this lot.
