Alan Ashby enjoyed 17 years in the big leagues catching for the Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays, and Houston Astros. A fine defensive catcher Ashby was also no slouch with the bat collecting 1,010 hits during his career. Ashby was a member of the Toronto Blue Jays first team during the 1977 season. He was traded to the Houston Astros and was a stalwart for the organization playing from 1979-89. Ashby caught 3 no-hitters in his career as well as 107 shutouts.
