Ed Lopat pitched for 12 seasons in the majors compiling a lifetime record of 166-112 with an ERA of 3.21. Lopat pitched on 5 New York Yankees (1949-53) World Series Championship teams and was named an All-Star in 1951. Following his playing career Lopat enjoyed success as a Major Leage Coach, Mananger, and Scout. This stunning 1963 Kansas City A's vest and pants dates to when Lopat was employed as the A's Skipper following a stint as pitching coach in 1962. The jersey and pants show moderate to heavy wear and are appropriately tagged by Wilson in the front left tail of the jersey as well as the waistband of the pants. The jersey is all original making it an increasingly rare example as the majority of this vest style 1962 jersey have had the name on back removed and have undergone a number change. Tough to find original example!!! LOA from jersey expert Dave Miedema accompanies this lot. Note to lot Green T-Shirt was used for photography purposes only.
