This 1961 A's flannel was originally issued to Bud Daley. Following Daley's trade to the New York Yankees the jersey was changed from number 28 to number 27 and subsequently worn by several pitchers who has short stints with the A's before finally settling in with pitcher Dave Wickersham for the remainder of the season. Wickersham pitched 10 seasons in the majors winning 68 games during his career. Wickershams finest season came in 1964 while with the Detroit Tigers. That season saw him post a 19-12 record with 163 strike outs and a 3.54 ERA. One of 4 players to take the field for both the Kansas City A's and Kansas City Royals Wickersham sported this attractive pin-striped jersey during the 1961 season which saw him appear in 17 games for the A's. The jersey shows moderate wear and other than the team performed number change is all original. Very sharp single season style from the Kansas City A's!!! LOA from jersey expert Dave Miedema accompanies this lot.
