"You Sir are the greatest athlete in the world" years later it's still hard to argue with that flattering statement that King Gustavo V bestowed on Jim Thorpe. This framed piece contains several news clippings pertaining to Thorpe as well as 2 candid shots of family members with Thorpe's friend Chief Clarence B. Davis. The highlights however of this attractive grouping are certainly the 2 signed Jim Thorpe items as well as a frame that Thorpe made when he was attending Haskell Institute as a youth and later gave to Mr. Davis. Housed inside that hand made frame rest 1 of the 2 autographs in this display. The 2nd signed piece is a typed letter dated Oct. 12, 1934 and is signed by both Davis and Thorpe. Absolutely fantastic piece featuring 2 very nice Thorpe signatures!!! PSA letter for framed signature accompanies this lot.
